WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK 2026

abbycares foundation at world breast feeding day

Yesterday, August first, Abby Cares Foundation joined the Ebonyi State Ministry of Health (Department of Nutrition), Helen Keller International, Jhpiego, and AMURT to kick off World Breastfeeding Week 2026 with a community road walk from the Old Government House to Abakaliki International Market.

Together, we raised awareness and encouraged communities to support every breastfeeding mother.

Why does breastfeeding Matter?

Every child deserves the healthiest start in life. Breast milk is a baby’s: • First vaccine • First food • First protection. It strengthens immunity, supports healthy growth and brain development, and lays the foundation for a healthier future.

Our Commitment

The campaign continues next week with community sensitization at Primary Health Care centers.

Through health education and community engagement, we are empowering mothers, families, and caregivers with the knowledge and support needed to practice optimal breastfeeding.

Healthy Mothers. Healthy Babies. Healthy Communities.

At Abby Cares Foundation, we are committed to improving maternal and child health through health promotion, community outreach, and stronger primary healthcare systems.

Together, let’s protect, promote, and support breastfeeding.

Bridging Gaps • Building Healthier Futures
