FROM ONE PHC TO THOUSANDS OF LIVES: EZZА-OFU COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPACT
On August 27, Abby Cares Foundation held its monthly Community Clinic at Ezza-Ofu Primary Health Centre, Ebonyi State, bringing essential healthcare closer to children, adults, pregnant women and nursing mothers.
For many families in this rural community, the clinic provides a vital opportunity to access appropriate medical care close to home.
Since establishing our clinic at the PHC in February 2023, 5,000+ people have benefited from our monthly clinic services.
But the impact goes beyond the numbers.
One important indicator is maternal health and safe delivery at the PHC.
Safe deliveries increased from:
56 in 2023 → 115 in 2024 → 101 in Jan–Nov 2025 → 86 by July 2026.
By July 2026, the PHC had already recorded 86 deliveries—an 86% increase compared with the corresponding January–July period of 2025, demonstrating growing utilization of facility-based maternal care.
Our work is helping strengthen maternal and child health services, improve access to primary healthcare, support referrals and follow-up care, and increase community confidence in the PHC.
This is what happens when healthcare is brought closer to the people.
Care. Early intervention. Referral. Follow-up. Health education.
One community. One PHC. Thousands of lives touched.
