For a first-time mother in rural Ebonyi State, prolonged labour and an unsafe delivery led to the loss of her baby, a Caesarean section and a serious post-surgical wound complication.
We met her at Ezza-Ofu PHC, where she received further surgical care, wound management and follow-up support.
Her story reminds us why skilled birth attendants, timely emergency care and postpartum support are critical—especially in rural communities.
At Ezza-Ofu PHC, recorded deliveries increased from 56 in 2023 to 115 in 2024 and 119 in 2025—showing what strengthened access to maternal healthcare can achieve.

Every mother deserves a safe pregnancy, safe delivery and quality care after birth.
